Mahram is no more required to accompany a Woman pilgrim to perform Hajj or Umrah - Saudi Hajj Minister


The Minister of Hajj and Umrah in Saudi Arabia, Dr. Tawfiq Al-Rabiah announced that mahram is no more required to accompany a woman pilgrim, who wishes to travel to the Kingdom to perform Hajj or Umrah from all over the world.







This came from the Minister during a press conference at the Saudi Embassy in Cairo, where the minister clarified the controversy whether a mahram is required to accompany a woman pilgrim or not.

- There is no quota or ceiling for the number of Umrah visas to be issued for Muslims from all over the world. Any Muslim coming to the Kingdom with any type of visa can perform Umrah, stated the Minister of Hajj and Umrah.

- Al-Rabiah confirmed that the expansion of the Grand Mosque of Makkah is continuing, as it costs exceeded over 200 billion riyals, stating that it is considered as the largest construction project in the history.





- He added that, the Kingdom's leadership and people are in the service of the Two Holy Mosques and their pilgrims, in light of the historical and original commitment of the Kingdom.

- "The Holy sites have witnessed radical development in their infrastructure and organization to facilitate the arrival of pilgrims from inside and outside the Kingdom." said the minister of Hajj and Umrah.

- Al-Rabiah said, We welcome all Muslims from all over the world to Makkah and Madina, the establishment of Haramain Express Train between Makkah and Madina facilitates people's movement to reach the holy sites.




- The minister announced the abolition of all health conditions and restrictions for Egyptian pilgrims, with a generous order from the government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, within the framework of the facilities provided by the Kingdom to facilitate the arrival to perform Umrah pray in the Rawdah Al-Sharifa for those coming from all countries of the world. - He confirmed that the Saudi government's keenness on reducing the costs of performing Hajj and Umrah, as the matter is related to a number of factors. The minister referred the efforts made by the Kingdom during the recent period regarding the introduction and use of modern technologies and digitization of the services provided by the ministry to those who wish to visit the Two Holy Mosques.




- It includes using robots to provide some services to the pilgrims, as well as developing the Nusuk platform, which makes available many facilities for the pilgrims and visitors of the Grand Mosque. Now it is possible to book an Umrah permit through the Nusuk platform within a short period of time, after which the visa can be issued within 24 hours.
