7 Travel Rules All Saudi Residents Must Follow Before Traveling Abroad



The General Directorate of Passports (Jawazat) in Saudi Arabia has issued 7 important guidelines for anyone traveling to a foreign country.

The department said travelers must make sure their passport is valid for more than 3 months when traveling to Arab countries and more than 6 months when traveling to other countries. The department clarified that travelers must ensure their travel documents remain undamaged and that all information is readable. Travelers should also check the entry rules and requirements of the country they plan to visit.

The Directorate stressed that the national ID card must be valid for at least 3 months when traveling to Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. The national ID can be used only for travel to GCC countries.

They also said that digital documents in the Absher and Tawakkalna apps cannot be used for international travel. Travelers must carry the original physical documents.

The department added that the family registry is only a document to prove dependents inside Saudi Arabia and cannot be used for travel outside the Kingdom. Read: Iqama renewal rules for workers in 2025
