Riyadh Metro Sets Guinness World Record as the Longest Driverless Train Network

Saudi Arabia has reached a major global achievement with the Riyadh Metro being officially recognized by Guinness World Records as the longest fully driverless train network in the world, covering 176 kilometers.

This success shows the Kingdom’s rapid progress in building modern and sustainable transportation systems.

The Riyadh Metro is a key part of the capital’s public transport project. It includes six connected metro lines with 85 stations, all operated using advanced technology. Trending: Saudi Arabia announces new tax from 2026

The entire system works with a fully automated, driverless operation model that is controlled from high-tech central control rooms. These rooms monitor the metro with great accuracy to maintain top safety and quality standards.

Riyadh’s public transport network—which includes both the metro and buses—supports the city’s traffic flow and contributes to its economic, urban, social, and environmental development. It also helps improve transportation accessibility for everyone in the community.

This global success is due to the work of the Royal Commission for Riyadh City, which is focused on finding smart and long-lasting ways to get around.

It also highlights the Commission’s commitment to innovation and modern infrastructure that improves the quality of life in the capital and supports the goals of Saudi Vision 2030. Most Viewed: Saudization of 12 jobs in private sector
