Public Prosecution Investigates Six for Online Violations Under Anti-Cybercrime Law



The General Authority of Media Regulation (GAMR) has sent the cases of six people to the Public Prosecution because they posted content that aimed to stir up public opinion. GAMR said their actions are considered a crime under the Anti-Cybercrime Law.

According to the authority, the Public Prosecution is now investigating the charges against these individuals. After the investigation, the cases will be sent to the proper court, along with a request to apply the appropriate legal penalties. GAMR explained that Article 6, Paragraph 1 of the Anti-Cybercrime Law says anyone who produces, prepares, sends, or stores anything online that could harm public order, religious values, public morals, or the privacy of others can be punished with up to five years in prison and a fine of up to 3 million Saudi riyals, or one of these penalties.
