Makkah Shuts Down 1,300+ Workshops and Warehouses After Major Inspection Campaign



The Makkah Mayoralty has closed more than 1,300 workshops and warehouses in the holy city after finding several violations during a major inspection campaign. Between Nov. 8 and Nov. 25, inspection teams carried out 6,046 field visits and regulatory procedures across Makkah.

During these inspections, officials shut down:

➤ 783 workshops operating without licenses


They also inspected:

■ 1,544 restaurants

■ 1,411 grocery stores

■ 1,203 food trucks to ensure they follow all health and safety rules.

In addition, 232 notices were issued asking businesses to fix their violations, and inspectors checked 343 stalls in public markets.

This large-scale field campaign, called “Makkah Corrects,” aims to improve compliance, organize work environments, and regulate workshops, warehouses, and markets in the city.

The mayoralty explained that these inspections are part of ongoing efforts to monitor commercial and service activities, increase commitment to regulations, and reduce practices that may harm public safety. Recommend: Check iqama expiry date without using Absher platform

The Makkah Mayoralty confirmed that the campaign will continue with intensive inspections across all neighborhoods, markets, and work sites to ensure a safe, organized environment and support the highest standards of quality of life in the holy city.
