Sharing Personal Data Without Permission Is a Crime, Public Prosecution Confirms



The Public Prosecution has confirmed that sharing personal data without legal permission is a crime and is punishable under the law. It explained that protecting privacy is a basic right guaranteed by the Personal Data Protection Law.

The authority also clarified that sharing sensitive personal data with the intention to harm someone or to gain personal benefit is a serious criminal offense, as it directly violates privacy and individual rights.

The misuse of personal data is a serious crime, and the Public Prosecution has stressed that the Personal Data Protection Law will be used to prosecute anyone responsible. There would be no mercy given to anybody found guilty of unlawful data sharing or misuse, it warned.

The Saudi Public Prosecution also encouraged raising awareness about the importance of safeguarding personal information and avoiding any actions that could lead to data leaks or misuse.
