Saudi Arabia is getting ready to Introduce Air Taxi services in Major Cities
Saudi Arabia is preparing to bring air taxis to the Kingdom through a new partnership with the U.S. company Archer Aviation, a global leader in vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) aircraft. This marks a major step toward launching next-generation urban mobility in Saudi cities.
The agreement was signed at the CoMotion global summit in Riyadh, where Saudi officials explained how advanced air mobility will transform transportation across the Kingdom. Part of Saudi Arabia’s plan for next-generation transportation
The goal of this action is to help achieve the national policy for the development of AAM (Advanced Air Mobility) systems. It fits perfectly with Saudi Arabia's plan for the aviation industry, which is to position the kingdom as a hub for sustainable mobility, smart transportation, and future air travel.
Work begins on regulations, safety, and early test flights
Under the memorandum of understanding, Saudi Arabia and Archer will collaborate to build and improve regulations for VTOL aircraft.
The work includes:
➤ Aligning safety and certification rules with the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)
➤ Planning a phased rollout of air taxi services
➤ Running test flights in Saudi Arabia
➤ Conducting proof-of-concept demonstrations
➤ Evaluating infrastructure needs
➤ Launching public awareness programs
These steps are designed to ensure that air taxi services can be introduced safely and effectively across the country. Recommend: Saudi Arabia urges residents to activate National Address before 2026
