Over 5.4 Million Perform Umrah in Q2 2025; Madinah Welcomes 3.7 Million Visitors
A total of 5,443,393 pilgrims from Saudi Arabia and abroad performed Umrah in the second quarter of 2025, according to statistics released on Thursday by the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT).
Men made up 61.6% of the pilgrims (3,352,506), while women made up 38.4% (2,090,887).
The report indicated that domestic pilgrims were the majority, reaching 4.1 million, including 2.6 million men and 1.4 million women. Out of these, 2.1 million were Saudi citizens, representing 51.6% of all pilgrims, while 1.3 million pilgrims came from abroad. Recommend: 3 expats arrested for selling counterfeit smartphones
The number of pilgrims arriving from outside the Kingdom reached 1,324,418, including 653,513 men (49.3%) and 670,905 women (50.7%). In terms of travel methods, 71.6% arrived by air, 28.2% by land, and 0.2% by sea.
The report also showed that 62.9% of domestic pilgrims did Umrah with their families, while 28.7% did it alone. The smallest group during Q2 2025 was the 8.4% who did Umrah with friends.
Pilgrims from the Makkah region represented the highest percentage of domestic pilgrims, reaching 1.7 million (43.1%). More than 600,000 pilgrims came from the Riyadh region (14.6%), while over 9,000 pilgrims came from the Northern Borders region (0.2%).

Madinah welcomes over 3.7 million visitors in Q2 2025
Madinah received 3,767,000 visitors from inside and outside the Kingdom during the second quarter of 2025, according to GASTAT.
The bulletin showed that 2,102,425 visitors arrived from abroad, with 53.9% women and 46.1% men.
Visitors from within Saudi Arabia for religious purposes reached 1,665,341, including 766,165 Saudi nationals (46%) and 899,176 non-Saudi residents (54%). Among these domestic visitors, 68.5% were men and 31.5% were women.
