MHRSD Extends Huroob Grace Period for Domestic Workers in Saudi Arabia
The Saudi Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development (MHRSD) has announced an extension of the grace period for runaway domestic workers to regularize their legal status. The extension will last for six months, starting from Tuesday, November 11, 2025.
The Musaned platform, the official system for domestic worker services, will carry out all status correction procedures, according to the ministry. Trending: King Salman calls for performing Istisqa prayer all over Saudi Arabia on Thursday
Six months earlier, the ministry had already given a six-month grace period, starting from May 11, 2025, to allow domestic workers reported as absent from work (huroob) to correct their status. The new extension applies only to workers who were reported absent before the date of this new announcement.
The ministry explained that the grace period gives both domestic workers who remain in the Kingdom after leaving their workplaces and their employers another chance to update their legal status through automated procedures on Musaned.
Under this system, new employers can log into Musaned and complete the transfer process automatically, helping to improve the work environment and protect the rights of both workers and employers.
The ministry emphasized that this initiative is part of its continuous efforts to develop the domestic labor sector and aligns with it to improve contractual relationships and organize the Saudi labor market.
The program also allows domestic workers who were previously reported absent or whose residency permits (iqamas) have expired—and who are still in the Kingdom illegally—to regularize their status by transferring their services to new employers after completing the required procedures.
