Saudi Jawazat to Launch New Self-Deportation Platform and Smart Passport Systems

The Acting Director General of Passports (Jawazat), Maj. Gen. Saleh Al-Murabba, announced that the directorate will soon launch a new digital platform called the "Self-Deportation Platform" to handle the deportation of illegal residents in Saudi Arabia.

He explained that this platform will replace traditional methods used to deport people who violate residency, labor, and border security laws. The launch will take place once all security, technical, and operational requirements are completed. Through this system, illegal residents will be able to access the platform and complete their travel and departure procedures online. Smart Track and AI-Powered Identity Verification

The Jawazat chief also revealed plans to introduce a new smart track system that allows travelers to verify their identities through smart cameras. These cameras can check the identity of up to 35 people at the same time, completing travel procedures without the need for passport control officers.

“Digital Twins” Technology for Better Passenger Experience

Another upcoming innovation is the "Digital Twins" technology, which uses data analysis and digital models to track crowd movement, calculate passenger waiting times, and monitor satisfaction levels at terminals. This system was tested successfully during the Hajj season of 1445 AH (2024).

Digital Passport and International Cooperation

Maj. Gen. Al-Murabba confirmed that the digital passport is already available on the "Absher" platform to help with international travel procedures. The Jawazat is currently working to sign international agreements with other countries to expand the use of digital passports worldwide.

Streamlined Departure and Smart Verification

He added that departure procedures will soon become faster and easier, removing the need for travelers to go through manual passport control. These developments will be done using smart devices, digital cameras, and automated verification systems that connect with security and technical networks, improving both efficiency and the travel experience. AI and Digital Transformation in the Passport Sector

He emphasized that the Ministry of Interior continues to develop advanced digital services, and visitors to Saudi Arabia can clearly see the progress in the passport sector. The Jawazat aims to transform all Saudi entry ports into smart gateways that use artificial intelligence (AI) to accelerate travel procedures.

Over 100 Digital Services and 24 Million Beneficiaries

Maj. Gen. Al-Murabba proudly stated that the Jawazat now offers over 100 digital services through the Absher platform, serving well over 24 million users in 2024.

He also mentioned the “Smart Voice Agent” service, which operates 24/7 to assist people without the need for human employees. Anyone can access this service by calling 992. Recommend: Saudi Arabia enforces strict travel rules for controlled medications
