Saudi Arabia announces discovery of number of new Natural Gas fields in the Kingdom


The Minister of Energy in Saudi Arabia, Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz announced that the Saudi Arabian Oil Company "Saudi Aramco" was able to discover a number of natural gas fields in the central region, the Empty Quarter, the northern border region, and the eastern region of the Kingdom.







The Minister said that the "Shadun" natural gas field was discovered, in the central region, 180 kilometers southeast of Riyadh, after the flow of gas from Shadun-1 well at a rate of 27 million standard cubic feet per day, with 3,300 barrels of condensate.

- He added that, The "Shehab" natural gas field was also discovered, in the Empty Quarter, 70 kilometers southwest of the Shaybah field, after gas flowed from the Shehab-1 well at a rate of 31 million standard cubic feet per day. See Also : Treasures buried in Saudi Arabia to provide 200,000 jobs 

- The "Al-Shorfa" natural gas field was also discovered in the Empty Quarter, 120 kilometers southwest of the Shaybah field, after gas flowed from the Al-Shorfa-2 well at a rate of 16.9 million standard cubic feet per day with 50 barrels of condensate.





- He continued stating that, The "Umm Khansir" field of unconventional natural gas was also discovered, in the northern border region, 71 kilometers southeast of the city of Arar, after gas flowed from Umm Khanasser-1 well at a rate of two million standard cubic feet per day with 295 barrels of condensate.

- The Minister of Energy confirmed that the "Samna" field of unconventional natural gas was also discovered in the Eastern region, south of the Ghawar field, 211 kilometers southwest of Dhahran city, where gas flowed from the Sumna-2 well at a rate of 5.8 million standard cubic feet per day with 24 barrels of condensate, gas flowing from Samna-104001 well at a rate of 11.6 million standard cubic feet per day with 169 barrels of condensate, and gas flowing from Samna-6 well at a rate of 9.25 million standard cubic feet per day.
