Saudi Arabia Shortens Umrah Visa Validity—Ministry of Hajj and Umrah Confirms

Saudi Arabia has shortened the validity period for Umrah entry visas from three months to one month from the date the visa is issued, according to Al-Arabiya, citing sources from the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah.

However, the duration of stay after a pilgrim arrives in Saudi Arabia remains three months, meaning that pilgrims can still stay in the Kingdom for up to 90 days once they enter. Most Viewed: All types of visa holders in Saudi Arabia can perform Umrah

Since the start of the new Umrah season in early June, well over four million Umrah visas have been issued to international pilgrims. This season has already set a record number of visitors within just five months, compared to previous years.

The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has also updated the visa regulations. Under the new rules, if a pilgrim does not enter Saudi Arabia within 30 days of the visa’s issuance, the Umrah visa will be automatically canceled. These changes will take effect next week.

Ahmed Bajaeifer, an advisor to the National Committee for Umrah and Visit, explained that this decision is part of the ministry’s preparations for the expected increase in Umrah pilgrims. The number of visitors is expected to rise after the end of the summer season and as temperatures drop in Makkah and Madinah.

The main goal of the new regulation is to reduce overcrowding and improve the experience for pilgrims visiting the two holy cities. Recommend: Big changes to Saudi visa rules
