Prince Salman said that this royal order shows the Kingdom’s continuous dedication to caring for mosques — especially the Two Holy Mosques — and reflects Saudi Arabia’s mission to serve Islam and Muslims.
He also confirmed that all concerned authorities have already started taking steps to keep the mosque ready for round-the-clock access, ensuring the comfort and spiritual well-being of worshippers at this important religious and historical site.

Story behind the Mosque of Two Qiblas (Al Qiblatain Masjid):
Masjid Al Qiblatain (the Mosque of Two Qiblas) is known for the historic moment when the direction of Islamic prayer (qibla) changed from Jerusalem to the Kaaba in Makkah.
While Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was leading a prayer, he received a divine revelation from Allah to change the qibla. During the prayer, the Prophet and his followers turned 180 degrees to face the Ka'bah, giving this mosque its famous name — “The Mosque of Two Qiblas.” This event was a major turning point in Islamic history, showing strong faith and the unity and independence of the Muslim community.
The Revelation and Change
🔘 The Setting: After the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and his followers migrated to Madina, they originally prayed facing Masjid Al Aqsa (Jerusalem).
🔘 The Desire: The Prophet longed to face the Ka'bah in Mecca and wished for the prayer direction to change.
🔘 The Command: While praying at this mosque, the Angel Gabriel (Jibreel) brought a revelation from Allah in Surah Al-Baqarah, instructing the Prophet to change the direction of prayer.
🔘 The Action: The Prophet immediately turned during prayer to face the Ka'bah, and the entire congregation followed him, completing the prayer in the new direction. See Also: 7 reasons to visit Masjid Al Nabawi
