Saudi Arabia Ends Midday Work Ban After 3 Months with 94% Compliance
The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development has announced the end of the three-month ban on working outdoors during midday hours. The compliance rate with the ban reached 94%, showing that private sector companies are becoming more aware of the importance of following safety rules.
The ban, enforced in coordination with the National Council for Occupational Safety and Health, applied to all private sector companies from June 15 to September 15, 2025. It prohibited outdoor work from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. each day. Most Viewed: Transport General Authority Cracks Down on Unlicensed Passenger Transport
Minister Ahmed Al-Rajhi said the high compliance rate reflects responsibility and awareness in the private sector, as well as successful cooperation with related authorities. He stressed the ministry’s commitment to continue promoting safe work environments to protect workers’ health and support sustainable development.
The ministry explained that the midday work ban was designed to protect workers from the dangers of direct sunlight, reduce health risks, and provide a safe workplace that meets international occupational safety standards.
The National Council for Occupational Safety and Health confirmed its ongoing support for initiatives that protect workers and promote safe work environments.
To ensure compliance during the ban, the ministry carried out 29,121 field visits and multiple monitoring campaigns across the Kingdom. It reported a 94% compliance rate, recorded 2,414 violations, and received 325 reports. Non-compliant companies faced legal penalties.
Meanwhile, the National Council for Occupational Safety and Health launched an awareness campaign on social media, sharing guidance materials to inform employers and workers about the importance of the ban and preventive measures to protect health.
