Saudi Arabia approves Visitor ID for opening Bank account in the Kingdom

The Visitor ID is issued by the Ministry of Interior. It is considered an official identification document for visitors, and its authenticity can be checked through approved digital platforms.
SAMA explained that allowing the use of the Visitor ID will help banks serve new groups of customers. It will also improve the banking experience for visitors during their stay in Saudi Arabia.
The central bank confirmed that this change is part of regular updates to banking account rules. The aim is to keep up with new regulations, make it easier to open and manage accounts, increase financial inclusion, support digital transformation in financial services, and improve the overall customer experience.
