Riyadh Metro Schedule Updated to Serve Students and Early Commuters
Riyadh public transport has announced that the Riyadh Metro will now start running every day at 5:30 AM. The purpose of this change is to assist students, employees, and early commuters.
The new schedule comes after growing demand for metro services. It also supports the city’s efforts to cut down on private car use, reduce traffic jams, and make travel easier across Riyadh. Most Viewed: World's tallest upcoming towers
Officials explained that this update is part of bigger plans to expand and improve the public transport system in line with sustainability and quality-of-life goals.
In August, the Royal Commission for Riyadh City shared that the metro had carried 100 million passengers since it started in December. The system also achieved an on-time performance rate of over 99.78%.
Passenger numbers by line:
➤ Blue Line (Olaya corridor): 46.5 million riders
➤ Red Line (King Abdullah Road): 17 million riders
➤ Orange Line (Madinah Road): 12 million riders
➤ Other three lines combined: 24.5 million riders
The Riyadh Metro is connected with buses, on-demand shuttle services, and public transport parking areas, offering a fully integrated travel network. Read: Saudi Arabia updates vehicle inspections facility requirements for 2025
