Arab and Islamic Leaders Reject Gaza Displacement in Summit with Trump at UN
Arab and Islamic leaders repeated their rejection of forcing Gaza’s people to leave and insisted that those who fled must be allowed to return. They made this clear during a high-level meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.
The joint statement came after a meeting between Trump and leaders from eight Arab and Islamic countries at UN headquarters during the 80th General Assembly session. Most Viewed: Saudi Arabia allows expats dependents to work
The summit was co-hosted by Trump and Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. It included Jordan’s King Abdullah II, Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Indonesia’s President Prabowo Subianto, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Egypt’s Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, UAE Vice President and Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed, and Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan.
The leaders thanked Trump for arranging the meeting and pointed to the “intolerable humanitarian catastrophe” in Gaza, mentioning huge civilian losses and the danger to regional stability.
They repeated their joint stance against forced displacement and called for the urgent return of Palestinians who were displaced.
The statement also demanded an immediate ceasefire to release hostages and allow enough humanitarian aid to enter Gaza as the first step toward fair and lasting peace.
The leaders said they were ready to work with Trump and stressed the importance of U.S. leadership in stopping the war and opening the way to stability.
They called for a detailed plan to stabilize the situation, protect the West Bank and holy sites in Jerusalem, and backed reforms within the Palestinian Authority.
The participants also discussed the need for a full Gaza reconstruction plan based on Arab and OIC (Organization of Islamic Cooperation) proposals, with international support and security measures to help Palestinian leadership. They ended by confirming their commitment to keep the momentum going, saying the summit marked the start of a shared path toward peace and regional cooperation.
