40,000 Riyals Fine for an Expat and a Saudi citizen for Commercial Cover-Up
A Saudi court fined a Saudi citizen and a Yemeni national a total of SR40,000 for committing commercial cover-up. The case was in the tourism accommodation sector in Abha, located in the southern Asir region. The court also ordered that their names and crimes be published in local media at their own expense, according to the Ministry of Commerce. The Saudi citizen was convicted of hiring the Yemeni national illegally to run a rental property business for his personal gain, without getting a foreign investment license.
The penalties for this crime include:
➤ Closing the business.
➤ Canceling the commercial registration and license.
➤ Banning the Saudi citizen from doing the same or any other business activity for five years.
➤ Deporting the Yemeni national and banning him from returning to Saudi Arabia for work.
The Anti-Commercial Cover-Up Law also states that those found guilty may face up to five years in prison, fines of up to SR5 million, and confiscation of any assets gained illegally, after final court rulings. See Also: Saudi Arabia approves Visitor ID to open bank account in KSA
