Over 15 Million Perform Umrah in Saudi Arabia During Q1 2025, Says GASTAT
More than 15 million people performed Umrah in the first three months of 2025, according to a new report from the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT).
Numbers of Pilgrims
➤ Total pilgrims: 15,222,497
➤ From outside Saudi Arabia: 6,523,630 (10.7% more than the same time in 2024).
➤ From inside Saudi Arabia: 8,698,867.
➤ Saudis: 24% of the total number.
➤ Men: 60.5%
➤ Women: 39.5%

Pilgrims by Month
🔹 Foreign pilgrims: The highest number came in January (36.5%), and the lowest was in March.
🔹 Domestic pilgrims: The highest number came in March (80.9%), and the lowest was in January.
Visitors to Madinah
During the same period, 6,452,696 people visited Madinah, including 4,412,689 foreign visitors.
Since 2024, GASTAT has been releasing these numbers every three months, based on surveys and official data from the Pilgrim Experience Program, the Ministry of Tourism, and other government sources.
Growth in 2024–2025 Umrah Season
The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah said on July 31, 2024, that over 1.2 million people came to Saudi Arabia for Umrah between June 11 and July 25 from 109 countries.
■ This was a 30% increase in the number of pilgrims compared to the same period in 2023.
■ The number of Umrah visas also grew by 27%.
■ More than 4,200 contracts were signed between Umrah companies and foreign agents to improve services.
Launch of Nusuk Umrah Service
The Ministry also launched the new Nusuk Umrah platform. This service lets foreign pilgrims apply for an Umrah visa directly and book services like hotels, transportation, and tours online, without needing intermediaries.
