How Saudi Arabia Is Protecting Consumers from Online Gold Fraud
The Ministry of Commerce in Saudi Arabia has blocked a non-compliant and untrusted online store based outside the Kingdom after it was caught selling counterfeit gold bullion. The fake bullion was made of copper coated with gold to deceive shoppers. Recommend: Saudi Arabia plans voluntary pension and savings program for citizens and expats
The ministry discovered the violation when the store, which was targeting the Saudi market, advertised gold bullion in different weights at half the normal market price. To protect consumers, the store was immediately blocked in cooperation with the relevant authorities. This action was taken to enforce the E-Commerce Law and its executive regulations.
The ministry also warned consumers about the risks of online fraud. It advised everyone to check the reliability of online stores before buying by using the “Enquiry on E-Commerce Documentation” service available on the Saudi Business Center platform.
Shoppers were also urged to avoid unknown websites, online stores, and accounts to protect themselves from fraud and scams. Trending: Foreign pilgrims can now directly apply for Umrah visa
