Saudi Arabia arrests 11,657 illegal residents within a week


Over the past week, 11,657 individuals have been arrested by Saudi security officials for being in the country illegally. Most Viewed: Musaned platform launched CV upload service for domestic workers



The Ministry of Interior reported on Saturday that the arrests occurred during joint inspections conducted by the security forces and various government departments from May 29 to June 4.

Of those arrested, 6,981 were found guilty of violations of the Residency Law, 3,190 of the Border Security Law, and 1,486 of the Labor Law.

A grand total of 9,215 individuals were deported by the ministry, with 12,122 being sent to their respective diplomatic offices to get travel documents and 1,435 being directed to finalize their travel arrangements. Read: 6-month grace period for runaway domestic workers

As part of their punishment, 17,018 illegal residents, including 15,991 men and 1,027 women, are currently going through various phases of judicial procedures.

The Ministry of Interior has issued a warning that anyone who helps people illegally enter the Kingdom, whether by transporting them, providing shelter, or any other service, could face a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison, a fine of up to SR1 million, and the confiscation of any vehicles or houses used for this purpose.
