Strict penalties have been put in place to make sure that the procedure works well and to reduce the number of possible violations.

- In collaboration with the General Directorate of Passports (Jawazat), Saudi officials have set pretty severe penalties for people who violate Hajj rules.

- The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah made it clear that performing Hajj without permit is against the law and could result in a 50,000 riyals fine. Read : Is it possible to arrest an expat worker, whose iqama is expired in Saudi Arabia

- There will also be a fine of up to SR 50,000 for anyone caught transferring pilgrims without valid permits.

- Expatriates who violate these rules will be jailed for six months and then sent back to their home country. For 10 years, they will be banned and not be able to come back into the Kingdom.
