Entries into Makkah stopped without permits, for Hajj 2023


Residents will be turned away from security checkpoints on routes going to the Holy City Makkah starting from Monday, 15th May 2023 (25/10/1444), according to a statement from the General Directorate of Public Security. Join Saudi Expatriates group on Whatsapp



This is in accordance with the guidelines to carry out Hajj, which provide that locals seeking to visit the Makkah city must receive a permit from the appropriate authorities.

- The rules governing the Hajj require returning vehicles and foreign resident expatriates to the cities from where they came, with the exception of 

1. Those who work at the holy sites in Makkah and have valid entry permits

2. Those who shows a resident's identity card (iqama) issued from Makkah. Trending : Saudi Arabia to welcome international Hajj pilgrims via 6 airports

3.Those who have valid Umrah permit and

4. To those who have valid Hajj permits. 

- Meanwhile, the General Directorate of Passports (Jawazat) has begun accepting requests for issuing entry permits to the Holy Capital online for domestic workers and non-Saudi family members, employees living in establishments based in the Makkah city, holders of seasonal work visas, and contractors with those establishments registered in the "Ajeer" system, for the Hajj season 1444 AH.

- With the platform of "Absher Individuals" providing permits for domestic workers and non-Saudi family members, and the service of entry permits to the Holy Capital Makkah being accessible through the electronic platform "Muqeem" portal for all agencies, the service aims to simplify procedures for beneficiaries, save time and effort, according to the Saudi Press Agency report. Most Viewed : Receiving 3 vaccinations is must for local Hajj pilgrims

Visit Visa holders are allowed to enter Makkah only in this case - Hajj 2023 (1444 AH) :

- Meanwhile, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah of Saudi Arabia explained the possibility of admission for holders of a visit visa into Makkah, after the regulations governing the Hajj were put into effect, which forbid citizens and residents from entering Makkah Al-Mukarramah without permit. 

- The Hajj ministry announced that anyone with Saudi visiting visas are permitted to enter the holy capital city Makkah as long as they have permission to perform Umrah.

- The Ministry urged Umrah pass holders to adhere to the time restrictions in their permits through its Twitter account in order to protect their safety. Follow Saudi Expatriates on Linkedin
