For the first time, Saudi Arabia releases Unseen images of 'Black Stone' of Holy Kaaba


The General Presidency for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques in Saudi Arabia has revealed never seen images of 'Hajar-Al-Aswad' or Black Stone of Holy Kaaba with a Focus Stack Panorama in 49,000 megapixel image.



The new images of 'Hajar-Al-Aswad (Hajar-E-Aswad)' took the internet by storm in Saudi Arabia as people share the never seen images of the stone on the social media.

- The pictures of the 'Black Stone' of Holy Kaaba was captured using a painstaking process that took almost 60 hours to complete. Shot over 7 hours, it took the team another 50 hours to combine the 1,050 photos to produce the 49,000 megapixel image. - The Focus Stack Panorama uses a technology in which images are combined with different clarity, in order to produce a single image with the greatest accuracy. Photo Stacking is a process of stitching hundreds of images taken of different parts of the subject at different focal lengths together to make a single shot in high resolution. It is often used to create detailed landscapes and close-up macro shots, as per the Saudi Gazette.

- 'Hajar-Al-Aswad' is believed to be sent down from Heaven as revealed in the Tradition of the Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him), On another occasion, the Prophet describe the Black Stone saying, "When the Black Stone came down from Paradise, it was whiter than milk, but the sins of the sons of Adam made it black."

- Hajar-Al-Aswad was placed by Prophet in the southeastern corner of Holy Kaaba, it comprises 8 small rocks affixed to a large stone that is encased in a silver frame. See Also : Kiswah - The Black cloth of Holy Kaaba

- Hajar-E-Aswad marks the point from where the Tawaf begins and ends. The ritual of Tawaf involves Hajj and Umrah pilgrims go around the Kaaba 7 times anticlockwise.

- The Black Stone is placed one and half meters high from the ground, it is black in color with a reddish color with a cavity similar to a drinking bowl.

- The Black Stone is surrounded by a frame of pure silver to preserve it, the place of the stone appears oval. The Hajar-Al-Aswad is perfumed with the luxurious Oud oil 5 times a day. Read : History of the silver, gold doors of Holy Kaaba in Makkah over 5000 years
