Saudi Arabia ships 80 Metric Tons of Liquid Oxygen to India after Spike in Corona cases


Saudi Arabia shipped 80 metric tons of liquid oxygen to India as the country is running low on supplies due to an unusual raise in covid-19 cases, The urgent supply shipment is being undertaken in cooperation with the Adani group and Linde company.



The Indian Embassy in Saudi Arabia tweeted 'Embassy of India is proud to partner with Adani group and M/s Linde in shipping much-needed 80 Metric Tons liquid oxygen to India. Our heartfelt thanks to the Ministry of Health Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for all their help, support, and cooperation'.

- "Back home, we are also arranging additional oxygen supplies for speedy distribution in Gujarat. Everyday, our teams are hard at work, *9\.-=]10filling 1,500 cylinders with medical oxygen and transporting them to wherever they are needed in Kutch district".

- “In addition to ISO cryogenic tanks, we are also securing from Linde Saudi Arabia another 5,000 medical-grade oxygen cylinders. These too will be quickly sent to India. I am thankful to our Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Dr. Ausaf Sayeed for assisting us in this regard.”

- India has reached out to various countries to procure containers and oxygen cylinders under operation 'Oxygen Maitri', in order to combat the growing demand of oxygen in the country.

- With a view to make available additional tankers for movement of oxygen, the Indian Union Home Ministry is coordinating lifting of high-capacity tankers from abroad, including Singapore and the UAE, by Indian Air Force transport planes.

- The President of the European Council Charles Michel said in a tweet, "The EU stands in solidarity with Indian people amidst resurgent COVID19 pandemic. The fight against the virus is a common fight. We will discuss our support and cooperation at EU-India Leaders' meeting on 8 May" reports Saudi Gazette. - The French President Emmanuel Macron has also extended support to India. In a tweet shared by the Indian embassy in France, Mr Macron said, "I want to send a message of solidarity to the Indian people, facing a resurgence of COVID-19 cases. France is with you in this struggle, which spares no one. We stand ready to provide our support."
