216 Historical Gold coins treasure found in India's town Pimpri-Chinchwad of Maharashtra


A treasure of historical 216 gold coins was found during digging work in Chikhli of India, among with a broken bronze container of weigh 525 gram, while the total gold coins weigh 2,357 grams.



According to the Archaeological Department, the gold coins have the seal of 'Raja Muhamad Shah' with the name written in Urdu and Arabic, The gold coins were of the period 1720 to 1750 AD.

- As per the Pimpri-Chinchwad police, the value of the one gold coin is 60,000 to 70,000 (About 3,100 to 3,600 Saudi Riyals), the total value of the gold coins is about 1.3 crore Indian rupees, which is nearly 672,000 Saudi Riyals. Similar : Treasures buried in Saudi Arabia

- During a routine checking of criminals, Police Naik Jamir Tamboli received a tip-off that Saddam Salar Khan Pathan, a native of Vithal nagar slums in Nehru nagar of Pimpri has illegally kept historical gold coins under him.

- A team of police raided the house of the accused along with jewelry experts, and found the historical gold coins, all the coins were seized.

- During the investigation, it was revealed that, it was found 3 to 4 months ago while digging, earlier they found few coins, they went again to dug in search of more gold coins and found a broken metal bronze and scattered gold coins. Recommend : Islamic era gold coins unearthed in Israel

- The information came out during a dispute between the Pathan and his brother in law, the coins will be handed over to the archaeological department.
