Wedding Celebration Turns Tragic After Gas Explosion in Islamabad
At least eight people, including the bride and groom, were killed early Sunday after a gas cylinder explosion at a house in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan, according to police and government officials.
The explosion happened after a wedding reception, while guests who had gathered to celebrate the marriage were sleeping inside the house. The powerful blast, according to Islamabad police, caused part of the building to collapse. Injuries and Property Damage
Police confirmed that seven other people were injured in the explosion. The incident occurred in a residential area in central Islamabad, and the force of the blast also caused damage to nearby homes.
Investigation Underway
Authorities received information in the early hours of Sunday, according to government administrator Sahibzada Yousaf. He confirmed that an investigation is ongoing to determine the exact cause of the explosion.
Police added that more details will be shared once the investigation is complete.
Prime Minister Expresses Condolences
Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed deep sorrow over the tragic loss of life. In a statement from his office, he offered condolences to the families of the victims.
