Saudi Arabia Arrests Multiple Government Employees in Major Corruption Crackdown



The Oversight and Anti-Corruption Authority (Nazaha) arrested several government employees on corruption charges in various regions across the Kingdom. Investigations confirmed the suspects' involvement in various corruption cases, prompting the authority's spokesman to take legal action against them all.

➤ Demolition Order Case:

A Saudi citizen was arrested after receiving SR85,000 of the agreed-upon SR110,000 to cancel a demolition order on agricultural land without a title deed. Two municipality employees from the same area were also arrested for taking money to stop the demolition.

➤ Municipality Tender Case:

A municipality employee in a governorate was caught receiving SR195,000 for illegally awarding a commercial tender.

➤ Water Desalination Plant:

The plant director in one governorate was arrested for taking SR35,000 from a contractor to ignore violations.

An employee was arrested after receiving SR30,000 out of an agreed SR240,000 to help in the illegal payment of SR8,303,000 to a commercial company.

➤ Civil Defense:

A non-commissioned officer was arrested for taking SR10,430 to issue an illegal permit for a business.

➤ Government Hospital:

A hospital employee was caught embezzling SR12,000 from a catering company responsible for hospital meals.

➤ Regional Emirate:

An employee was arrested for taking money to illegally facilitate marriage procedures for a resident.

➤ Enforcement Court:

An employee was caught taking money to remove a citizen’s name from the service suspension list.

➤ Zakat, Tax, and Customs Authority:

Several illegal customs seizures at the employee's workplace led to his arrest at the airport.

➤ Governorate Secretariat (Travel Tickets):

Another employee was arrested for illegally obtaining travel tickets for himself and his family.

➤ Market Supervisor:

A market inspector was caught taking SR7,500 and tobacco products from a business without any legal reason.

➤ Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development:

A resident employee at a health complex was caught taking money in exchange for promising someone to pass the health licensing exam without attending it.

➤ Ministry of Hajj and Umrah:

An employee was arrested for taking money in return for not canceling a hotel’s operating permit.

An employee was caught taking money to illegally connect electricity to a site.

Nazaha’s spokesman emphasized that the authority continues to monitor, investigate, and arrest anyone who misuses public funds or their position for personal gain. He confirmed that all violators will face legal action, even after leaving their jobs, and that Nazaha will continue enforcing the law without leniency.
