Arab-Islamic Committee Urges US to Reverse Visa Denial for Palestinian Delegation at UNGA 2025

The Arab-Islamic Ministerial Committee on Gaza said it deeply regrets the decision of the US State Department to refuse entry visas for the Palestinian delegation that was supposed to participate in the 80th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York this September.

The committee asked the US government to change its decision and respect the UN Headquarters Agreement, which requires the US to allow delegations to attend UN meetings. The committee highlighted that communication and diplomacy are vital, and this move harms peace efforts. The statement also highlighted that the Palestinian National Authority (PNA) and President Mahmoud Abbas are committed to peace. It said the international community should support the Palestinian Authority in carrying out reforms and in keeping the promises Abbas made to world leaders about working for peace and fighting violence, extremism, and terrorism.

The committee noted that Palestinians are currently facing very difficult and dangerous conditions, with an unprecedented escalation against the Palestinian people.

The committee cautioned that weakening the Palestinian Authority would make achieving peace more difficult and prolong the conflict. See Also: Arab and Islamic nations unite to condemns Netanyahu's statement on  Greater Israel
