The crude oil flowed from the Wara reservoir in the North Wafra (Wara-Burgan-1) well at a rate that exceeded 500 barrels per day, with an API gravity of between 26 and 27 degrees, as is stated in the joint statement.

This is the first discovery since production in the Partitioned Zone and the offshore area surrounding it resumed in mid-2020, when the two nations resumed joint activities following a hiatus.

The discovery is considered extremely important because it positively affects both countries' reputations as reliable global energy suppliers and enhances their capabilities in the exploration and production sectors. Read: Eid Al-Adha holidays in Saudi Arabia
