Escalators and Elevators of Makkah Grand Mosque serve around 200,000 pilgrims each hour


The General Presidency for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque maintains its integrated system of facilities to continue serving the pilgrims during this year’s Hajj season, 1446 AH. Most Viewed: Pilgrims can now obtain and activate eSIM without visiting service providers



The Grand Mosque and its courtyards can accommodate over 200,000 worshippers per hour, thanks to the elevators and stairs provided by the Presidency.

With 56 stairs in the second Saudi expansion, 122 stairs in the Mas'a, 14 stairs in the restrooms, and 20 stairs at the entrances from the small market tunnel, the Grand Mosque is equipped with over 220 escalators.

These escalators provide the pilgrims with the highest level of service under a variety of operating conditions. Recommend: Hajj without bag service

There are a total of 29 elevators within the Grand Mosque. Of these, 9 are located in the Mas'a, 4 in the second Saudi expansion, 5 in the restrooms, 4 in the basement of the courtyards and the small market tunnel, and 7 in the buildings that operate the Grand Mosque.
