Riyadh had the most resolved cases at 10,644, followed by Mecca at 9,820 and the Eastern Province at 5,449, according to the Saudi publication Al Watan.

By the end of the year 2024, after 73,342 hearing sessions in 12 regions of Saudi Arabia, the total number of cases that were successfully resolved reached 34,389.

Over the same time period, there was a decrease in the number of such instances in the south-western regions of Jazan and Najran, as well as in the north-western region of H'ail, with three cases in Jazan and one case in Najran.

Legal expert Asim Saleh believes that the decline in labor cases in certain areas is due to the fact that, on the one hand, employers there comply with labor regulations and, on the other, workers there avoid going to court and instead try to resolve workplace disputes amicably. He identified disputes over wages as the most common type of labor cases.

The worker is entitled to sue their employer in labor courts if they are negligent, according to Saleh, who spoke to Al Watan.

Expats make up a sizable portion of Saudi Arabia's population of 32.2 million.

By speeding rulings on relevant issues and safeguarding the rights of both employees and employers, Saudi labor courts have stayed current with significant changes in the kingdom's employment sector in recent years.

To maintain harmony between employers and employees, the kingdom has implemented an amicable dispute resolution system. See Also: New feature of Absher Reports launched

The first step in managing labor dispute lawsuits is to try to negotiate a resolution amicably. During mediation, the mediator will try to bring the parties' perspectives closer together so that they may reach a compromise that is acceptable to everyone.

If that doesn't work, the case will be sent to a labor court no later than 21 days after the initial settlement meeting.

As part of its enormous changes in 2018, Saudi Arabia established new labor courts to help with faster action and the administration of justice. Follow Saudi Expatriates on X platform
