Number of deaths caused by Earthquake in Morocoo has increased to 2012


The death toll from the earthquake that shook the Moroccan province of Al Haouz and its bordering provinces rose to 2,012 deaths and 2,059 injured, 1,404 of whom are in critical condition, as per the most recent official numbers. Trending Video : Sick Leave as per Saudi Labor Law



In order to deal with the impacts of this tragic disaster the Moroccan Ministry of Interior declared that rescue and search efforts for victims are currently ongoing in the impacted districts.

- Videos of the damaged iconic red walls that surround the old city in historic Marrakech, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and of buildings reduced to dust and rubble were posted online by Moroccans.

- On Friday evening, a 6.8 magnitude earthquake struck various locations in Morocco, including Marrakesh. When the earthquake occurred at night, many families were trapped. The epicenter was located in the High Atlas Mountains, 71 kilometers (44 miles) south-west of Marrakesh, a tourist-friendly city with world heritage designation.

- However, the 350 km away capital of Rabat, Casablanca, Agadir, and Essaouira all felt the earthquake tremors.

- Many individuals are camped out there overnight out of concern for earthquakes. They claim they are in urgent need of food and water. However, these locations are difficult to access, with mountain roads littered with rocks and other debris making it impossible for the rescue services to get there. - For the next 3 days, all national flags will fly at half-staff on all public structures, according to a statement from the royal palace.

- As part of the country's attempt to aid victims, the king instructed the armed forces to support rescue teams. Additionally, Moroccans are giving blood.
