Taxi fares increased by 17%, Minimum charge for a trip set to 10 Riyals in Saudi Arabia


The Transport General Authority (TGA) in Saudi Arabia announced an increase in public tax fares within cities of the Kingdom, fixing 10 Riyals as minimum charge for any trip in public taxis with a capacity of 4 passengers.







As per the new pricing rules, the charge for every additional kilometer on the basic fare has been increased by 2.1 Riyals instead of 1.8 riyals, with a hike of 16.67%. Trending : Saudi Arabia automated monitoring of taxi violations

- The waiting charge has also been hiked by 12.5% per minute, with new fares would be 0.9 riyals instead of 0.8 riyals. The same fares can be charged if the vehicle speed is less than 20 km per hour.

- The fare for opening the meter was raised by 16.36%, reaching 6.4 riyals instead of 5.5 riyals on taxis with a capacity of 5 or more passengers, which is an increase of 21.67% in the opening fare, reaching the new price to 7.3 riyals instead of 6 riyals. Follow Saudi Expatriates





- While for waiting charge, it has been increased by 22.22% bringing to 1.1 riyals instead of 0.9 riyals, confirmed the Transport General Authority in its statement, as per the report of Saudi Gazette. Recommend : Free trip for passenger, if fare meter is not operating
