Ministry of Health answers, How do Corona Variants arise and the best way to counter Omicron corona strain


The Ministry of Health in Saudi Arabia confirmed that taking vaccinations, completing immunization and enhancing their effectiveness with the booster dose is the best way to deal with corona variants, including the new “Omicron” mutant. Follow Saudi Expatriates on Whatsapp group







The Ministry clarified through its Twitter that, Corona variants arise due to decrease in the rate of immunity, increase in the spread of the virus among non-vaccinated, as well as change in the shape and sequence of the virus are the reasons to see new variants of the virus.

- The Ministry of Health explained that the exposure of a new variant has several scenarios to deal with, either it is not interesting or worrying, or it is with the same ability as the original virus. - The Health Ministry highlighted that the danger in the new mutant lies in the severity of the symptoms of the virus, the speed of its spread, as well as its lack of response to the vaccine.





- Today, Saudi Arabia reported 24 new corona infections, 27 new recoveries and 2 deaths in the past 24 hours, bringing up the total cases in the Kingdom to 549,810 of which 538,966 recovered with 8,830 deaths.

- Active cases of Covid-19 in Saudi Arabia slightly falls to 2,005 in which 42 are critical, increasing 3 cases since Yesterday. In the past 24 hours, the health ministry has performed 33,947 corona tests, so far 31.57 million (31,570,182) covid-19 tests conducted by Health Ministry since the beginning of the pandemic in the Kingdom. - The Ministry of Health reveals it has administered over 47.44 million (47,449,878) doses of Corona vaccine to Saudi nationals, resident expats and visitors for free all over the Kingdom through its 587 vaccination centers. Of the total, 358,393 are the booster doses and the elderly people received 1,719,892 doses.

- The Ministry of Health's official data shows, over 22.47 million (22,470,514) people received two doses of the vaccine, while 24,620,971 people received only one dose of the vaccine against corona virus.
