Saudi Arabia allows landing of International flights at Al-Ula after its Expansion
The Royal Commission of AlUla has announced the approval by the GACA (General Authority of Civil Aviation) to start receiving international flights at AlUla's Abdul Majeed Bin Abdulaziz international airport.
The GACA also said that airport's capacity has been raised from 100,000 to 400,000 passengers annually. The green light for Al Ula airport comes after a major expansion program to become the 5th largest airport of Saudi Arabia.

- Currently international flights to and from Gulf and kingdom are currently suspended due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and expected to resume in mid May.
- The development of the Al Ula Airport is a key element of Royal Commission of AL Ula's strategy to lift Al Ula to become a global destination for heritage, culture, history and natural tourism, as well as improving its role as an important logistical center in northwestern Saudi Arabia.

- Earlier this year, Saudi Airlines and Royal Commission of Al Ula has signed an agreement to boost domestic tourism at the historic destination. It includes joint marketing and promotional activity to make sure AlUla becomes a attraction for Saudi residents in 2021.
