Corniche of Colors attracting Residents and Visitors at Jeddah Waterfront


The “Corniche of Colors” on the Jeddah waterfront witnessed great interaction from residents and visitors, Where the initiative contributed to promoting the art of open and participatory public space with the aim of developing and improving the visual scene in Jeddah.



Saudi nationals and creatives of Jeddah have come together for the colorful corniche initiative, painting roadways, walkways and squares to beautify the city.

- The "Corniche of Colors" initiative was launched with the participation of the advisor of the Governor of Makkah Al-Mukarramah and Deputy Governor of Jeddah Prince Saud bin Abdullah bin Jalawi, in an initiative implemented by the Jeddah Eye Charitable Society, in cooperation with the Jeddah Governorate Municipality, to improve the visual scene in the main squares and ends of the governorate. - The initiative extends over the central island of the southern corniche with a length of 4,500 meters, and is implemented in 8 phases, leading to demonstrating the experience of urban design and its concrete strategies, increasing the unification of art and architecture in the urban landscape with the cooperation of architects, artists and urban designers, and raising the level of cultural awareness, that makes access to works of contemporary art and to show the talents of artists, high quality visual marking.

- He supervised the experiments of the campaign, which was launched in the presence of the Mayor of Jeddah Saleh Al-Turki, Prince Saud bin Abdullah bin Jalawi. As it was previously implemented on selected sites in Jeddah, and appropriate modifications have been implemented in order for the initiative to appear properly.

- The agent of community service, Eng. Ayed Al-Zahzani, explained that these initiatives come within the framework of community partnership with the Oyoun Charitable Society, and other governmental, private and charitable agencies. - It also comes within several activities implemented by the Jeddah Municipality in the main roads, walking and sports corridors, squares, buildings, gates and other sites, and he praised the cooperation with the Jeddah Eyes Association to serve the environment and civil society in line with the vision of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the year 2030.
