'Noor Riyadh' - The Festival of Light celebration to start from 18th March in Riyadh


The celebration of Noor Riyadh (Lighting festival) to start from 18th March, it includes the display of interactive artworks that rely on lighting in multiple locations of Riyadh, with the participation of 60 major artists in the field of lighting arts, from more than 20 countries around the world, 23 artists of whom are Saudi nationals.



Noor Riyadh festival to last for 17 days until 3rd April 2021, the celebration is the first initiative of the Riyadh Art Program, one of the 4 major Riyadh projects launched by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud on 19th March, 2019 at the initiative of Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Royal Commission for the City of Riyadh with the aim of transforming the city of Riyadh into an open art gallery.

- The celebration of Noor Riyadh light festival includes 60 artworks that include all forms of light arts, including historical, engineering and optical works, sculptures, lighting shows, interactive performances, kinetic pieces, outdoor installations and works, and a range of forms of light art, which are available to residents and visitors of the city of Riyadh. Close presence to all parts of the city, with 2 main centers designated for the celebration in each of the King Abdullah Financial District (KAFD) and the King Abdulaziz Historical Center in Al Murabba. - Under the direction of Saudi Crown Prince, Noor exhibition will be held within the celebration of the light of Riyadh, which is the largest collective art exhibition that monitors the artistic movement in the lighting arts since the 1960s until Today, it receives its visitors at the conference center at the King Abdullah Financial District from March 18 until June 12, 2021, and is famed by its comparison with museums in the quality of its displays that use light, and it is divided into 4 wings, the light perception pavilion, the light experience pavilion, the light reflection pavilion, and the environment suite the light, Where the visitor moves inside the exhibition in the middle of rays of light separating the works of a group of artists from different regions around the world during different stages of time.

- The exhibition is accompanied by 270 activities, which are distributed among workshops, discussion sessions, tours, presentations, volunteer programs, cinematic and musical events, and recreational and educational activities suitable for all family members, available through virtual platforms via the Internet, and at ceremonial sites spread across the city. - The celebration of Noor Riyadh represents the first initiative of the (Riyadh Art) programs, which aims to improve the quality of life in the city in line with the goals of the Saudi Vision 2030, and to enhance the cultural and artistic aspects of the city, by transforming the city of Riyadh into an open art gallery that blends originality. And contemporary, through 12 artistic initiatives that include the implementation of more than 1000 works and artistic landmarks created by local and international artists before the public in various parts of Riyadh, thus making this program one of the largest public space art projects in the world.
