 GOSI specifies cases of Work injuries and Financial Compensation on it for Expats and Saudi citizens


The General Organization for Social Insurance (GOSI) in Saudi Arabia has identified the types of injuries that fall under the clause of work injury. 



The GOSI clarified through a video clip that, a work injury is considered in any of these cases, An accident that occurs to the participant during work or because of work.

The accident that occurs to the GOSI subscriber while on his way from his home to the place of work or vice versa, or on his way from his workplace to the place where he eats or to the mosque and vice versa, as per the General Organization for Social Security. Similarly, the accident that occurs to the GOSI subscriber while he is on the way with the intention of performing a task assigned to him by the employer and being infected with any diseases that prove to be caused by work, as per the General Organization for Social Insurance. 

Financial compensation for the Expatriate (Non-Saudi) for a work injury :

- In the event of Expat GOSI subscriber suffers a work injury, he shall be paid a lumpsum compensation instead of the benefit as follows:

- If the injury leads to a permanent disability of "100%", then the injured is entitled for a lumpsum financial compensation in the amount of 84 months from the value of the benefit that he was supposed to obtain with a maximum of "330,000" riyals, and the compensation value is included in the aid of others decided by it, The competent medical committee. - If the injury leads to a partial disability of "50%" to "99%", then he will receive a lumpsum financial compensation equivalent to "60" months of the value of the assumed benefit, with a maximum of "165,000" Saudi riyals.

- If the injury leads to the death of the injured contributor, his family members receive a lumpsum compensation equal to "84" months, calculated on the basis of the benefit that the subscriber was supposed to receive, with a maximum of "330,000" distributed among the family members equally.

- The General Organization for Social Insurance stressed that it bears the costs of preparing and transporting the body of the contributor, who died due to a work injury or who died while receiving a permanent disability return. Most Viewed : Check your Employment and Salary history through GOSI

Financial compensation for the Saudi subscriber for a work injury :

- GOSI has determined the monetary compensation that the subscriber had for occupational hazards, among which the Saudi subscriber is entitled to a monthly benefit equivalent to 100% of his average salaries during the 3 months preceding the month in which the injury occurred whenever he was completely and permanently disabled, as per the Social Insurance. 

- The GOSI contributor who has a total disability, benefit is subject to periodic medical examinations determined by the competent medical committee for a period of 5 years after the date of allocating the benefit. The benefit is reconsidered on the basis of the degree of disability that is estimated, as per the Social Insurance. Related : Procedure to register for GOSI online

- If the competent medical committee decides that the injured subscriber needs the aid of others, he will also receive a 50% of the benefit value as a subsidy on the condition that the maximum amount for it does not exceed 3500 riyals, and the subscriber is subject to periodic medical examinations for a period of 10 years to assess the extent of his continuing need for this aid becomes final after that, according to the Public Institution for Social Security. 

- In the event of the Saudi subscriber dies as a result of a work injury or the death of the owner of the permanent total or partial disability benefit, he shall pay the family members a monthly benefit, and the minimum benefit is 1983.75 Saudi riyals, as per the Social Insurance.  Recommend : Benefits of GOSI in Saudi Arabia

- Similarly, if the injury leads to a partial disability of the Saudi subscriber from "50%" to "99%", the subscriber receives a benefit in proportion to his disability from the total disability benefit, and the injured person benefits from the aid of others, if the medical committee decides his eligibility for it, taking into account the previous provisions regarding the examinations Medical, whether for return or assistance to others, as per the Social Insurance.
