Supreme Court in Saudi Arabia calls to sight Shawwal crescent on Friday

The Supreme Court in Saudi Arabia has called on all Muslims across the Kingdom to sight the crescent of the month of Shawwal on Friday evening, which is 29th Ramadan 1441 (22nd May 2020). Read : Saudi Arabia announces Full Curfew during Eid Holidays




The Supreme Court called in its announcement to those whoever sights the crescent by naked eyes or through binoculars to report it to a nearest court and register his testimony, or report to an authority of the region's center in his area to facilitate his reaching to the nearest court.

- The sighting of the Shawwal crescent marks the end of the Ramadan month this year and start of celebration of Eid Al Fitr. See Also : Eid-Al-Fitr Holidays in Saudi Arabia

- In case the crescent is sighted on Friday (22 May) evening, The Eid Al Fitr will be celebrated on Saturday (23 May), If the new moon is not sighted, Saturday will mark as regular fasting day then Eid Al Fitr will be celebrated on Sunday, which is 24th May 2020.
