The Hajj Ministry launches High tech Smart cards for Pilgrims for Safe and Secure Hajj

The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah launched a pilot program this year with wearable high tech smart cards for 25,000 Hajj pilgrims in Mina. Trending : Health centers for 24 hours at Jeddah airport for pilgrims




These smart cards will have a personal information like health status, residence and Hajj operator details of the pilgrims. It is fitted with a GPS tracker in order to follow individual pilgrim movement, managed by control room in Mina. Recommend : Heavy penalties on overstaying of Hajj pilgrims

- As it is the first time, we are in experimental stage of smart initiative, we are working on and we will study up to what extent it will be advantageous to the pilgrims said officer of the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah.




- The numbers of smart cards will increase in the coming years to add more pilgrims in the other areas, The Ministry is also issuing up to 200,000 pilgrims ID cards, which will work in same way of tracking information and location of the pilgrim.

- These smart cards are scannable and very useful for the Hajj operator while identifying pilgrims and accessing their medical history and the required assistance need. These cards are going to work this year by a smart Hajj ID app. Read : Few interesting facts about Hajj and Makkah

- The smart card and mobile app is also going to help the ministry to stimulate and predict crowd behavior during Hajj.
