Saudi Arabia and Russia Introduce Mutual Visa Exemption

Saudi Arabia and Russia have signed a new mutual visa-free travel agreement that allows citizens of both countries to enter without a visa. The agreement was finalized on Monday during the Saudi–Russian Investment and Business Forum held in Riyadh.

The deal was signed by Prince Faisal bin Farhan, Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister, and Alexander Novak, the Deputy Prime Minister of Russia. Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman, Saudi Minister of Energy and head of the Joint Saudi–Russian Committee, was also present at the signing. This visa waiver works for all kinds of passports, including diplomatic, special, and regular ones. It lets people enter without a visa for business, tourism, and personal visits, such as visiting family or friends. Travelers can stay for up to 90 days a year, either all at once or over several journeys.

Officials explained that the agreement shows both countries’ commitment to easier travel, stronger tourism, better economic ties, and closer cultural cooperation. It is expected to increase travel between the two nations and support sectors that deepen their partnership.

However, the visa exemption does not apply to people traveling for work, study, residency, or Hajj. These purposes still require a proper visa.

Russia is the first country with which Saudi Arabia has created a mutual visa exemption that includes ordinary passport holders. Most Viewed: Riyadh's International Airport to undergo biggest upgrade in the last 40 years
