For government bodies that implement the Civil Service Law, the amendment establishes official holidays as 4 working days minimum and 5 working days maximum for personnel subject to both the Civil Service Law and the Labor Law.

Employees of government agencies that use the civil service system, contractors in the competency program, and contractors whose work is governed by the rules for undersecretaries and assistant undersecretaries are all included, with the Eid holiday being limited to no more than five working days.

The resolution also states that the entity's senior official must be approved to shift this category to "remote work" for more than five working days, during which civil service employees are entitled to the Eid holiday. Most Viewed: The expat population in Saudi Arabia reaches over 15 million

The ruling gives the power to the Ministers of Finance and Human Resources and Social Development to decide whether government entities that execute the Civil Service Law are subject to the Labor Law and what other types of contractors fall into that category.

During the Eid holiday, civil servants are entitled to the same benefits as private sector workers, including the same regulations and guidelines for the duration of the break and the power of the agency's top official to authorize remote work for more than five working days.

Hamoud Al-Assimi, a human resources expert, emphasized the significant changes that have taken place following the revision of government workers' official vacations.

During an interview with the Al-Ekhbariya channel, Al-Assimi explained that the regulation modifications relate to the Competency and Contracting Program, remote work, and certain holidays and observances that agents are required to observe while on a schedule. In addition, he mentioned that while there was no formal decision about the remote work system before, it should be in line with the right regulations now that some duties and jobs necessitate it.
