With over 10,500 WiFi points, Communications announces its operational plan for Hajj


The Communications, Space and Technology Commission announced that the operational plans for the communications and technology sector were prepared for the Hajj season this year 2023 (1444 AH). With unrestricted support and empowerment from the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman, Prince Muhammad bin Salman, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and the follow-up of the Minister of Communications and Information Technology. Dr. Muhammad bin Saud Al-Tamimi, the governor of the Communications, Space and Technology Commission, was briefed on the sector's preparations for this year, which will see the return of pilgrim numbers to what they were before the pandemic, as the infrastructure equipment has been doubled at high rates compared to the year 1440 AH (2019) in numbers.

- He stressed that the equipment of the service providers included the allocation of more than 6,000 communication towers in the cities of Makkah Al-Mukarramah, Al-Madinah Al-Munawwarah, and the holy sites, with an increase of up to 74%.

- In addition to increasing the number of 5G towers by 1205%, bringing their number to more than 2900 towers, and providing more than 10,500 WiFi access points in Makkah, Madinah and the Holy Sites, an increase of 118%.

- Al-Tamimi pointed out that the Commission uses all of its resources to improve communication and technology services and ensure that they are provided to pilgrims at the highest levels of quality during the Hajj and Umrah seasons.
