UAE switches Weekend to Saturday and Sunday, with 4 and half days as Work week, starting January 2022 


The government of United Arab Emirates (UAE) has adopted a new law of weekly work, to be 4 and half days for work per week, given that the holiday is on Saturday and Sunday, and Friday is half a working day, with a nationwide Friday sermon and prayer scheduled for the whole year. The decision will be implemented from 1st January 2022 and it applies to all government entities and the work timing is as follows :

* As 2nd January 2022 is Sunday, so it will be an official holiday.

* Eight hours work From Monday to Thursday, 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM





* Unifying the timing of Friday sermon and prayer to be at 1:15 PM across the UAE throughout the year.

- The UAE government explained that the decision contributes to enhancing family life and achieving a qualitative leap in the country's economic performance. It also improves the integration of the national economy with various global economies and markets, and ensures matching days of exchanges and commercial and financial transactions.
