Saudi Arabia approved Sinopharm, Sinovac, Covaxin and Sputnik vaccines for the purpose of Visits including Hajj and Umrah


The Ministry of Health in Saudi Arabia announced the update of the definition of “immune” status standards for those coming to the Kingdom for the purpose of visits, including Hajj and Umrah, as of this December. The official Twitter account of the Ministry of Health stated that, “Updating the definition of 'Immune' status criteria for those coming to the Kingdom for the purpose of visit, including Hajj and Umrah, while the account of the Public Health Authority (Weqaya) said, “Updating the definition of fully immunized for the purpose of coming to the Kingdom” as of December 2021.”

- The Ministry of Health explained that the approved vaccines are 2 doses of Sinopharm, Sinovac and Covaxin, starting from 1st December 2021, and starting from 1st January 2022, two doses of the Sputnik vaccine will be accepted. - However, The Ministry highlighted the requirement for them is a negative PCR test result, 48 hours after arrival, in addition to an institutional quarantine for 3 days.

- The health ministry also stated that, this new vaccines are in addition to the previously approved vaccines, 2 doses of "Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca" and the "Johnson and Johnson" vaccine with one dose, with 14 days passed after receiving the doses.
