Kuwait announces the registration of First Omicron variant in the country


The Kuwaiti Ministry of Health on Wednesday announced that, it has recorded the first case of Omicron variant of Corona virus (Covid-19) in the country, in a European citizen who arrived to Kuwait from an African country. Follow Saudi Expatriates on Google News







The official spokesperson of Kuwait Ministry of Health, Dr. Abdullah Al-Sanad said that the first Omicron infection was of a traveler coming from one of the African country, where a spread of Omicron strain has been confirmed, According to Kuwait News Agency.

- He said the infected person received both doses of Corona vaccine previously and now he is under institutional quarantine as per the health protocols. Trending : UAE launches new 50-dirham banknote

- He added that the health ministry had taken all the necessary precautions as several nations announced the discovery of the new variant. The official spokesperson of health ministry said the studies had shown that current vaccines were affective against the new variant.





- Currently, the pandemic situation in Kuwait is normal, however, Kuwaiti citizens and resident expatriates are advised to take the booster dose of vaccine in order to help the ministry to curb the spread of the virus, Al-Sanad state.

- Last week, Saudi Arabia and UAE also confirmed that they have detected first case of Omicron infection. Saudi Arabia reported the infection in a citizen coming from North African country. While UAE detected it in an African woman, who travelled from an African country through an Arab country, without mentioning which nations.
