Saudi Arabia approves Moderna vaccine against Covid-19 for the age group of 12 to 17 years


The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) in the Kingdom has approved the use of Moderna corona vaccine for the age group of 12 to 17 years. The decision comes after the company submitted a request to approve the vaccine for 12 to 17 years age group. Follow Saudi Expatriates on Twitter







Saudi Food and Drug Authority approval to vaccinate this age group with the vaccine has been based on the data provide by the Moderna.

- SFDA stated that the vaccine met specific regulatory requirements and that clinical studies and scientific data showed its effectiveness and safety for 12 year old's and above. Trending : Saudi Arabia confirmed presence of Delta variant in the Kingdom and warned one dose is not enough against it

- Earlier on 9th July 2021, Food and Drug Authority approved the Moderna vaccine for those individuals who are 17 years or above.





- Saudi Arabia is currently in the process of immunizing its people and boosting the vaccination rates all over the Kingdom in order to reduce the spread of Covid-19.

- Starting from June 2021, the Ministry of Health started offering Pfizer vaccine to children for the age group of 12 to 18 years, after the approval of SFDA based on the scientific studies on the effectiveness of the vaccine for this group. - Earlier this week, the Ministry of Education ordered to allow only vaccinated students in person into the school, those who are not vaccinated will be considered as absent.
