The spokesperson of the Ministry of Health , Dr. Mohammed Al Abd-Al-Aaali said that black fungus does not have any affiliation with corona virus. He said that the fungus was caused by a mold found in steamy environments that caused respiratory tract infections but was not infectious.

- He added that some believe that black fungus is a strain or type of corona virus, this is incorrect as it is not a virus, rather it is a fungus present in the environment, nature and soil, it is not considered a direct cause of disease or it is transmitted directly except in case of opportunistic infections.

- Al Aali said Saudi health authorities were constantly following up on patients who had recovered from the Covid-19. The fungus required a particular environment for it to infect patients who had poor immune responses. The causes of the infection were still unclear.

- The world did not wake up from the shock of the black fungus, which was associated, began to spread among those infected with the Coronavirus, until cases of white fungus infection were discovered, which appeared in the state of Uttar Pradesh in India.
