Eastern Region Municipality in Saudi Arabia launches Self-Sterilizing Unit for Public Vehicles

The Municipality of Eastern Province in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has launched the first automotive autoclave sterilization unit on one of the main streets of Dammam as part of its preventive measure to combat with the emerging Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic. The Municipality explained that the sterilization portal unit was installed in King Saudi bin Abdulaziz Street, noting that there are more sterilization units that will be launched in the coming period in the heavy traffic streets in order to sterilize the largest possible number of vehicles.

- The sterilization portal unit uses the latest technologies and equipment, as the vehicle is autoclave by passing through the unit and the unit also broadcasts awareness messages to the travelers and vehicle drivers. - According to the municipality the sterilization unit is 5 meters high and 7 meters wide and contains a tank that can hold up to 600 liters of liquid and pumps 2 liters every second.
